Inspired by Gangtok’s Green MG Road and the state’s Green Mission.
Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, is a Buddhist haven. In sync with the Zen philosophy that divinity can only make its way through clear and clean surroundings, Gangtok is an epitome of neatness and is one of the few such places in India.
The Government of Sikkim launched a unique and innovative program called the “State Green Mission” with a view to increase avenue plantation and beautification of all vacant and waste lands, to further reinforce the wide-spread recognition of Sikkim being a Green State.
In line with the Government’s green initiative, the buildings that overlook the popular MG road in Gangtok have been painted in shades of Green.
MG road can only be used by pedestrians and has been declared vehicle-free, smoke-free and litter-free.
